"Five stars for the food and service. We just came back from our Japan trip and going to this place brought us all the way back to Japan. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. We were particularly amazed by the super tender and flavoursome ox tongue and the salt flavoured seafood fried noodles. The menu was reasonably price and it was perfect for a relaxing dinner with a few drinks. It was a busy and popular place so make sure you make a reservation in advance."

"Recently, I came across a recommendation on Instagram for Benkei Okonomiyaki Teppanyaki, so I decided to give it a try with some friends for a birthday celebration. The service was excellent, with friendly staff. The flavors leaned towards the rich side, but considering the price, it was a great value. As someone who doesn't usually eat beef tongue, I found it incredibly delicious and juicy. The tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) was also incredibly tasty. I would choose this place again for future gatherings. It deserves praise, especially because one of my friends didn't like onions, and the staff kindly separated them for us. "A small Japanese okonomiyaki restaurant with around 30 seats, it would be good to reserve a table in advance. In general the food is quite good, but some are disappointing such as the tamagoyaki (Japanese Rolled Omelette) as it was overcooked. The portion for fried mixed vegetables is also small. I would say it serves appetizers better than the mains, including the beef stew which is very nice. The okonomiyaki are quite standard and not shining, with the cheese one is a bit over."

"I’m a regular at BENKEI Okonomiyaki Teppanyaki. The owner and many chefs are Japanese, and a lot of Japanese customers come here—so yes, it’s authentically Japanese. It’s really reasonably priced especially considering it’s Central, unlike many Japanese restaurants in HK, and you don’t have to sit for three hours. The staff always remember me and my friends, and they’re friendly but still serious too which I like. Favorites: the melting cheese and mozzarella okonomiyaki and the Okinawa sour lime soda. If lunch is crowded you might have to wait a bit. They remember my food allergies. Will take my parents here next time too."

"We’ve loved okonomiyaki ever since our trip to Osaka. The ones we had here in Central, Hong Kong at Benkei were excellent! We were lucky to get seats at the counter right in front of the chefs as they cooked our dishes — it was amazing, both for adults and kids, like a dinner show. We tried three different kinds: the regular one, the one with noodles, and the one with onions. We loved them all! Highly recommended!"
